Coronavirus(COVID – 19) Protective Measures-Staying Safe and Healthy

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to explode globally, with hundreds of thousands of people getting infected daily. Therefore, it is defining global health and a social-economic crisis of the present time that the world has experienced since the Second World War. According to the WHO, the virus is thought to be infectious and spread through respiratory droplets. This implies that exposure can occur during close contact with one another, or when an infected individual sneezes or coughs. According to the CDC, the common symptoms of Covid-19 include coughing, fever, and shortness of breath. These symptoms may get noticed 2 – 14days after infection. As a result, everybody needs to reduce their chances of getting exposed or  spreading the virus by observing various simple measures to respond to this global threat.

The implications of the virus mean that most people should stay at home and less regarding social interactions. As a consequence, this could lead to a negative impact on mental and physical health. However, during such periods, individuals of all abilities and ages need to be safe and healthy. According to WHO, to stay safe and healthy, people should practice various recommended preventive measures. For example, hand washing, keeping at least 3 feet away from others, avoiding crowded places, and maintaining respiratory hygiene, such as covering one’s mouth when sneezing or coughing, wear face masks in public settings. Again, it is essential for individuals who suspect to be exposed to seek medical attention by calling a national emergency number and self-isolate to avoid the spread and to reduce contact tracing by the authorities. Similarly, regular physical activity is essential for the health of the mind and body since it lessens all the conditions that can enhance susceptibility to coronavirus. In response, authorities globally have implemented lockdowns, travel restrictions, closure of facilities, and workplace hazard regulations.
